Kaj Franck

Kaj Franck (1911-1989) was called "the conscience of Finnish design." He studied furniture design at the School of Industrial Design in Helsinki (now Aalto University ) and graduated as an interior designer. After graduation he worked as an illustrator for the catalogs of the glass works Riihimäki, as an interior designer, a window dresser, a textile designer and a decorator in a department store. He also designed fabrics on top of this. Kaj Franck is known for his minimalist style. Some of his best known works are Kartio glasses and Teema tableware for Iittala. Kaj Franck received in his career many Finnish and international awards. His designs are exhibited in numerous design museums worldwide.
