Harri Koskinen

Harri Koskinen (born 1970) is one of the best known and internationally recognized Finnish designers. Harri Koskinen studied at the Lahti Design Institute and the Institute of Art and Design EVTEK in Helsinki. The big breakthrough came in 1996 with his Harri Koskinen Block lamp, which won many international awards and is part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York. In his creative approach he combines traditional and contemporary design. He has designed a wide range of products from furniture to glassware, textiles, smoke detectors or perfume bottles. His clients include many international brands, e.g. Alessi, Cassina IXC, Danese, Design House Stockholm, Issey Miyake, Magis, Montina, MUJI, O Luce, Panasonic, Swarovski, Venini and large Finnish manufacturers, for e.g. Artek, Iittala, Marimekko, Nikari, Finlandia Vodka and Woodnotes. He also creates design pieces under his own brand "Harri Koskinen Works / Friends of Industry". Harri Koskinen has already received many international design awards. These include for e.g. th eTorsten and Wanja Söderberg Award 2009, the Pro Finlandia award in 2007, the Compasso d'Oro in 2004 or Wallpaper Design Award (for Sofabed) in 2010.
