Erik Magnussen

The Danish designer Erik Magnussen (born 1940) is known for his design objects and furniture in a functional, Danish and Scandinavian style, which are perfected to the smallest detail. His design approach is very versatile and ranges from tableware to furniture, created for everyday use. One of his most famous design objects is the classic Stellton thermos. Erik Magnussen was educated at the University of Art and Design. His designs have been exhibited in major museums around the world and have won many awards over the years, for e.g. the Lunning Prize in 1967 Designer of the Year by the Danish Design Council in 1983, the Bindesbøll medal in 1996, the Red Dot Award for Design Innovation in 1997, the Good Design Gold Prize of the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, etc.
