Iittala Kastehelmi cake stand

The Kastehelmi cake stand is reminiscent of Finland's nature where in summer the dewdrops shine on the grass in the morning. Hence the name Kastehelmi which in Finnish means 'dewdrop'. Oiva Toikka had the idea for these glass drops as he wondered how one could hide uneven places incurred on the glass during production. The cake stand has numerous round domes in pressed glass, reminiscent of dew drops.
