Divan 2 from Danish manufacturer Lyfa is a truly captivating pendant designed by Simon P. Henningsen in 1962, now updated in solid brass. The carefully positioned trapezoids provide soft and comfortable downlight while enacting a fascinating light display into the room. A Nordic, sculptural piece of art, still hand-assembled to perfection.
Simon P. Henningsen created this pendant lamp for the Tivoli’s famous restaurant.
The rooms offered spectacular views over the garden lake and at night, the pendant’s mirrored surfaces would catch the light from the famous fireworks and the lake. The success of the Divan 2 pendant went well beyond Copenhagen’s beloved amusement park as Lyfa started offering the lamp for the general public.
Divan, in Scandinavian, pure look, was bestowed with several Danish and international design awards. In 1963, it was even exhibited at the Louvre in Paris.
The pendant lamp from Lyfa, Divan 2 is known and loved for its colorful interplay of light, creating a captivating experience that changes with the viewer’s position. The light source is obscured and completely glare-free.
Divan 2, in Nordic look, is a masterpiece of lighting design that’s a joy to behold even when switched off. The manufacturing of each pendant involves a meticulous multi-step process, in which each trapezoid is polished by hand.
The product family consists of pendants in four different sizes. Available in solid brass or upon request, a polished stainless steel version with multicoloured trapezoids (red, blue, purple, beige, and teal).
