The Doo-Wop pendant lamp by Louis Poulsen is suitable for a number of environments from the kitchen, bedroom and living room to the office and meeting room. Doo-Wop with its vintage midcentury look has unique lighting properties and it is very practical. The lamp was originally designed for the Royal Danish Naval Academy Buildings Department. The suspension light illuminates soft and diffuse light. The inner reflector provides a downward directed light and the outer reflector or the main shade, ensures a direct light up- and downwards. Doo-Wop pendant was widely used in the 1950s due to its unique lighting properties and functionality. Doo-Wop is available in several colors.
The design appears timeless but has a strong connection to the New Look of the 1950s. It was reintroduced as Doo-Wop in 2012 in new colours and a brass version. In 2017 with new metal editions in copper and stainless steel. The production methods are the same and the shades are still spun by hand and completed with the fine rolled edge which gives the shades a special optical volume. Especially the brass variant challenges the craftsman as it is spun from a solid brass plate and appears polished.
