Pirkka stool is Scandinavian modern and timeless furniture, even a bit rustic, which is typical of the 50s. The stool was designed in 1955 by the Finnish designers and architects Ilmari Tapiovaara for Artek and was inspired by the traditional Finnish furniture of that time. The design of the chair Pirkka stool fits perfectly with the Pirkka furniture collection consisting of table, bench and chairs, but Pirkka stool also looks good alone. Pirkka stool legs are stained in brown-black, the seat is made of solid pine and frame in solid birch wood. The stool is available for purchase in two heights: 35 cm and 44 cm.
Ilmari Tapiovaara is one of the most important Finnish interior architects and designers of his generation. He got numerous international awards for his work, such as six gold medals at the Milan Triennale in 1951, 1954, 1957, 1960 and 1964. He also received in 1951 the prestigious Good Design Award in Chicago and the Pro Finlandia medal in 1959.
