The Artek Domus chair or lounge chair was designed in 1946 for the dormitories of the Domus Academy. This version of the Domus chair is upholstered in leather and is made of oak. The long backrest and leather upholstery make the chair very comfortable. Domus originally served different purposes. Ilmari Tapiovaara, the designer of the Domus chair, belongs to the most important Finnish and Scandinavian designers of the 20th century. He has equally influenced the Finnish and international design. He worked with Alvar Aalto in London as well as with Le Corbusier in Paris. In addition, he was mentor of the Finnish designers Eero Aarnio and Yrjö Kukkapuro. This Domus chair is made of birch and it is not upholstered. The Domus chair also comes upholstered in birch wood. Domus is available as a dining chair in different versions, ideal for modern and classic homes .
